Youth & High School Rugby

This spring will launch three high school rugby teams in the metro
Atlanta area-Pope, Lassiter, & Oconee County. There is believed to be
a team starting in Augusta, GA, as well as an effort in Savannah. I
expect this to snowball rapidly, as in an avalanche, and to more than
double every year for several years.

2005 GRU AGM

The Annual General Meeting of the Georgia Rugby Union will be held in Atlanta, Georgia on Sunday January 30, 2004.
The meeting time will be 12:00 noon at a location to be determined. Committee members may be asked to attend
a pre-meeting session at 10:00 AM.
Please note that each team should send a representative to avoid fines for non-attendance.
The Agenda will be forthcoming.
Any Nominations for officers may be made at any time prior to the meeting and at the meeting.
I will stand for office as President again, but welcome all nominations for GRU office.
Each club is encouraged to solicit its members to be a part of the GRU in some capacity.

To USA Rugby South member clubs:
The tournament coordinators of the Women's Club Division II National Tournament are currently seeking bids to host the 2005 tournament in the USA Rugby South territorial union. If your club is interested in hosting the tournament, please return the attached bid form. Bids will be due January 31, 2005. This tournament may be hosted by a men's or a women's club; the hosting team's participation in the tournament is not necessary. This event is not an official USA Rugby event.

] USA Rugby Announces 2005 Winter and Spring Coach Development Workshop Schedule

Boulder, CO, (December 1, 2004) USA Rugby is proud to announce the schedule for 22 Coach Development Workshops scheduled for the winter and spring of 2005.
USA Rugby’s Game Development Department is responsible for youth, high school and collegiate rugby programs as well as development for coaches and match officials. “High school rugby is exploding with over 17,000 youth and high school players and nearly 500 teams,” said program director Rick Humm. “USA Rugby’s Coach Development Workshops support growing participation by giving young players access to quality programs. We’ve never had a greater need for qualified coaches.”
