I have also gone ahead and blocked off hotel rooms for the weekend of the tournament. I have worked out a deal where referees will stay for free if we book all the hotel rooms.
Here is specific information about the hotels:
Rooms: 35 2 QUEEN BED STUDIO SUITES NONSMOKING Hotel: Candlewood Suites in Athens Price: $55/room per night Capacity/Room: 4 Distance from fields: 15 minutes (direct route)
This deal is in place until September 2nd. Please go ahead and book these hotel rooms as soon as possible. This hotel is really solid. I did a lot of research in terms of finding a hotel in Athens that would offer us such a deal.

USA Rugby South Club 7s Championship
Atlanta Old White Repeats as South Champion
July 17, 2010 (Knoxville, TN) Atlanta Old White is the repeat champion of the South with a second half victory over Life University in the 2010 South Sevens Championship held at the Tennessee Rugby Park in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Life University led 5-0 at the half on the strength of a Fidelis Odoh try but Old White brought on Richard Kanda at the break who touched down two long distance tries to earn the come from behind 12-5 victory. Both teams advance to the USA Rugby National Sevens Championship on August 14 in San Francisco, California.
Old White dispatched of New Orleans in one semifinal while Life University outpaced Daytona in the other to reach the championship match. Life’s Captain Ben Jones ran across two tries and Tui Osborne scored and converted all three tries to lead the Running Eagles over Daytona 21-14. Old White used two opportunistic tries by Leslie Mango to hold off the very elusive New Orleans 17-7.
The South Championship Tournament consisted of a seven-team competition played over the course of one day to determine the two representatives of the South to the USA Rugby National Championship event. Atlanta Old White defeated Little Rock and Daytona to advance to the semifinals while Life University tied New Orleans and defeated the Atlanta Renegades and Old White II to advance.

Mike Dee says it’s like no other sport.
And teammate Mike Ingoldsby pretty much agrees. They are talking about rugby, which is quickly becoming popular, with most major colleges fielding teams. And Macon rugby lovers have had a team for the past 12 years, which may come as a surprise to some Middle Georgia residents.
But according to the players, its popularity will continue to grow.

Georgia HS Rugby on the Rise
By Cody Adams On May 21, the Alpharetta Phoenix U19 squad became the first team from the fledgling Georgia High School Rugby Association to compete for a National Championship. Seeded 7th and starting six underclassmen, their inexperience showed in a 50-0 loss to eventual champions United of Utah (after trailing only 17-0 at halftime). Despite dropping a 2nd match, Alpharetta showed their potential the next day beating Downingtown, Pa. with a last-minute try to avoid the wooden spoon. Seventh place out of eight may sound disappointing but taken in context – a fifth year team battling established powerhouse programs - Alpharetta’s accomplishment is impressive.
